The Coton de Tulear is an amazing rare breed of dog. Bred for centuries for their gentleness, temperament, and appearance; known for their intelligence, for their charming personalities, and for their suitability as a pet for condo and apartment dwellers as they do not require a lot of space. They are the perfect family pet for people who suffer from allergies as they produce no dander. They are an excellent therapy dog and are good companions for both young and old alike.
I met my first three Cotons in the home of a friend and was instantly smitten. I had never met any dogs so loving, so affectionate, and so endearing. Upon making the decision to breed Coton de Tulears, I decided it was best to breed only a few dogs, carefully selected not only for their beauty, but also for temperament and suitability as a family pet and companion animal. Having a close relationship with each one is extremely important to me so I have raised each one as a member of my family. We live together in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, in the hills of Walden, in a small cottage close to the banks of a babbling brook on seven acres of mostly wooded land. My Cotons have plenty of contact with people, but they also enjoy the quiet of nature. I initially began as the proud owner and breeder of two females and one male: Zephyr (who retired in early 2004), Tres, and Shackleton. Rosie came to join us when Zephyr retired.
My dogs carry some of the highest quality genetic traits found in Coton de Tulears today. My Cotons have been carefully selected from the bloodlines of champions from around the world. The combinations offer a breeding stock that is unique to Cedarwood Cotons alone. We are affiliated with the USACTC and UKC.
